Happy Mother’s Day! This morning’s Mass at St. Theodore was very special! Not only was Mother’s Day honored but our students participated in the ministries at Mass. In the entrance procession, students carried the four virtue banners (Kindness, Gentleness, Forgiveness, Peace) that we have been practicing in school all year. Others proclaimed the readings, responsorial psalm, and the general intercessions. Students were ushers and carried the gifts. Special “Mom” quotes were read at the end of Mass. Fr. Gary also linked our four virtues to special attributes of Jesus, the Good Shepherd.
Yesterday 13 of our girls in grades 3-5 participated in a 5K run, the culminating event of “Girls on the Run”. They have been spending the last 10 weeks practicing and also having activities that taught them about self-esteem, how to handle difficult situations, and ways to grow in the knowledge that they are wonderful people. The girls are: E.Basse, E.Hemmer, M.Wilmes, A.Hammond, R.Schipper, H.Huntsel, S.Goldstein, R.Wilmes, Ri.Shelton and Re.Shelton, A.Biehl, C.Wilmes, and C.McGrail. They were joined by their friends K.Rowan and N.Harmon. Out of 3,700 participants S.Goldstein came in third in her age group and 19 overall. Way to go!
The countdown has begun! Having had a glorious day for Field Day we now move into the last two weeks of school:
